Sheep Ranch Mine one of major gold producers in southern Mother Lode (1918-1939). Deposits on Ranch were not discovered until 1866. Principal mine, of which George Hearst was one of partners (1874-1893), reportedly produced $4 million in gold during years of Hearst's involvement.
